NOTE: As we continue to grow and strive to help local charities in our community it is vital that we not only spread the word about the events and the cause it is benefiting, but we hope that you will take the time to get involved. Whether it’s writing a column, posting about the event on social media or by getting involved through sponsorships and raffle prizes, we greatly appreciate anything you can do to help. To get the know the organization better, we encourage you to visit www.13UglyMen.com THE HISTORY OF THE “13 UGLY MEN” The “13 Ugly Men” first appeared in the Tampa area in the 1990’s as a group of 13 Founding Members who hosted fantastic parties, and wanted to improve our community by giving back. By encouraging Tampa Bay to “Party With a Purpose”, the reputation of the original 13 grew steadily, and by the late 90’s, they were ready to take the next step. In December of 1998, The “13 Ugly Men” Foundation was incorporated in the State of Florida as a 501(c)3 not-for- profit organization. Over the subsequent years, the Foundation has raised well in excess of a half million dollars for deserving charities and causes around Tampa Bay. The Foundation is an ardent supporter of charities and organizations that benefit children’s issues, women’s issues, crisis intervention, law enforcement and our military men and women. Currently comprised of thirty-one (31) members, the Foundation is led by its Board of Directors, currently numbering six, including the President. The “13 Ugly Men” are proud to operate the Foundation with a 0% administrative over- head, which means that none of the proceeds from our events are used to pay for any operational expenses incurred by the Foundation in the normal course of business. Private donations, received annually from each member, ensure that 100% of the proceeds from our events reaches those in need. The “13 Ugly Men” have been honored with numerous awards throughout the years, including the Champions for Children Award (2009), presented by Voices for Children, the Business Partner of the Year Award (2012), presented by the Tampa Police Department, the Tampa Bay Lightning Community Hero Honor (2015) and most recently voted Tampa Bays Best Charity from Social Media Day (2017).
